Minho Region
Minho is a traditional Portuguese province, in the North of Portugal, which was part of the ancient region Entre Douro e Minho. It is comprised of Low Minho and High Minho.
It is a mountainous area, full of steep slopes, conducive to the development of wild species, being, also for this reason, one of the regions of the country with the most remarkable natural beauties.

The Minho region in Portugal is surprising. That's because it concentrates beautiful cities and, in addition, has a lot of history to offer. Guimarães, Braga, Viana do Castelo, Barcelos and Vila Nova de Famalicão and the Peneda-Gêres National Park are some examples of must-see places.

What to eat
Minho presents, in its main typical dishes, the corn bread, the green broth, the rojões and the Minho stew, several recipes for cod, duck rice, and, in the sweets, os mexidos, as cavacas and aletria de ovos, between others.
The main crops are corn and vines, and their green wines are famous.
Wines of Minho
The culture of the vine has remote traditions in the Vinho Verde region. The oldest known references to the existence of wine production in this region date back to Roman times. However, the oldest known mention of Vinho Verde dates from 1606, in a document passed by the Porto Chamber.
